CEO

Stacy has over 24 years of experience in the healthcare field. Her career includes a background in both for profit, and not for profit facilities. She is a widely sought after speaker for local and regional audiences covering such topics as Charge Master Committee Implementation and Guidelines, Interviewing in Today's Healthcare Environment, Developing effective Patient Financial Services Job Descriptions for your Legal Compliance program, Developing an Effective Training Program for PFS employees, Patient Access in Today’s Healthcare Environment, Denials Management, Effective Collection efforts for Managed Care Contracts Today, etc.

She has worked as the Patient Financial Services Director for large healthcare providers, as well as Clinic Operations Director for a Practice Management Company.

She has been featured in many publications such as HFM Magazine, UCAOA Association, Zimmerman and Associates, HFN, Healthcare Collector, and the Texas Rural Health Clinic Association newsletters. She was featured as a Who's Who 1998 recipient of Distinguished Leaders Internationally, as well as, being chosen as a Who's Who fellow member.

Her expertise includes practice evaluations, training and implementing effective programs to meet the needs of the healthcare providers in today's economy. She is currently a Healthcare Financial Management Association Learning Solution Inc. trainer for their Compliance @ Work program, and author of the HFMA Physician Office Compliance @ Work program. In addition, Stacy and was honored with the Patient Financial Services Excellence Award in 2003 by HFMA and served as the Vice President for fours years and the Secretary for two years for her home state chapter in Louisiana. She is also an active member of the UCAOA, AAUCM, HBMA, as well as, MGMA.


  Shannette Avara, CPC
Coding Manager

Shannette joined UCBCA in 2007 as the Coding Manager. Her 12 year career in health care includes over 5 years Managing and Supervising Coding, Billing, and Accounts Receivable in addition to two years teaching Billing and Coding processes at an accredited community college. She possesses a broad range of experience from the Front Desk of a medical office on to the Credentialing process.

In 1996 she completed training as a Medical Administrative Assistant at Baton Rouge School of Computers. In 2000, she received certification as a National Certified Insurance Coding Specialist through NCCT and attended University of Phoenix’s Business Administration Program.

Shannette is a Certified Professional Coder with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and currently serves the local AAPC chapter as secretary.


Allyson Berteau, CPC, Coding Supervisor, Urgent Care Billing & Collections of America

Allyson, one of the original Urgent Care Billing and Collection team members, began her career tenure with us in 2005. She has extensive hands on experience in billing, collections, coding, and even with medication dispensing. Over the years, Allyson has proven herself to be a real team player and has worked in the Billing/Collections Department, Implementation Department, and currently in the Coding Department. In 2007, Allyson was promoted to Coding Supervisor and obtained membership to the American Academy of Professional Coders. She acquired her Pharmacy Tech education from Med Vance Institute and is currently attending Louisiana State University’s (LSU) Medical Coding Certificate Program and completing her studies of the CPC certification exam through AAPC.


Sharon Dear, CPC
Coding Supervisor

Sharon joined UCBCA’s Coding Department in 2006, bringing 21 years of healthcare experience to the organization. This experience includes 12 years in direct medical coding experience, as well as multiple years of experience in Accounts Receivable management, Nursing Care procedures, and direct patient care.

Sharon acquired her coding training at Louisiana Technical College located in Lafourche Parish. In 2007, Sharon was promoted to Coding Supervisor and obtained her Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders.


Sheila Hilliard, Billing/Collection Manager, Urgent Care Billing & Collections of America

Sheila has over sixteen years of experience in customer service related positions. Fourteen of those years have been spent in the healthcare environment, with over seven years being spent in a management position. Currently, she is UCBCA’s manager of the Billing and Collections department.

Sheila has worked with patients and physicians in both the hospital and clinic settings. Her focus for the past six years has been exclusive to the Urgent Care Billing and Collections environment. She is a current member of UCAOA (Urgent Care Association of America).

Sheila’s experience in adapting to multiple systems has been a tremendous advantage to the clients of UCBCA as she has been able to master many different systems such as Medical Manager, Elligence, DocuTAP, AllegianceMD, and Practice Velocity among others.


Julie Miller, Collection Supervisor, Urgent Care Billing & Collections of America

Julie joined the UCBCA team in October of 2005 with ten years of customer service experience, three of which were spent in the healthcare financial field. Julie is currently a Collections Supervisor for UCBCA.

She is proficient in many practice management systems, including systems such as Point Click Care, Elligence, Bond, DocuTAP, Medisoft, Practice Velocity and Medical Manager among others.

In addition to billing and collections, Julie is skilled in group and/or physician Credentialing, Managed Care contracting, as well as the Implementation process of new clients. Julie’s always expanding knowledge of medical billing and collections, along with her positive attitude and hard-working nature, make her a valued member of the UCBCA team.


Phyllis Donaldson, Collections Supervisor, Urgent Care Billing & Collections of America

Phyllis has been a dedicated employee to UCBCA since August of 2006 and is currently a Collections Supervisor.

Phyllis came to UCBCA with over 18 years in the customer service industry with 8 years of management experience. She is proficient in multiple billing and practice management systems including Elligence, DocuTAP, Bond, Allegience, and Practice Velocity among others as well as Claim processing systems such as ZirMed and Emdeon.

Phyllis’s expertise in the billing and collections field, along with her many years in customer service makes her an invaluable asset to UCBCA and our clients.


Dinah Moore, Payment Department Supervisor, Urgent Care Billing & Collections of America

Dinah has been in the medical field for 10 years. During those ten years she has worked in various departments such as Payment Processing, Credit & Refund Specialist, Account Coordinator and now her newest position as the Payment Department Supervisor for UCBCA.

As the Supervisor of Payment Posting, Dinah utilizes her knowledge to lead her team in processing patient and insurance payments; Process credit reports/refunds for patients and Insurance Companies; Monitors insurance claims by running appropriate reports and contacting insurance companies to resolve insurance claims that are not paid in a timely manner and process collection of bankruptcies and NSF checks.
